Lauren Hallanan

Lauren is the Founder of China Marketing Insights and co-author of the Amazon bestselling book Digital China: Working with Bloggers, Influencers, and KOLs, and former host of the China Marketing Podcast.

Note: As of September 2020, due to her new role at Salesforce, Lauren has stepped down as Managing Editor of China MKTG Insights and is no longer involved in the company’s publishing or consulting activities.

Kejie Yi

Kejie is in charge of market research, newsletter & website content, and video production here at China Marketing Insights. She loves this work because she feels lucky to witness and experience the new changes happening in the China market as a millennial. When creating content, Kejie aims to leverage her experience as an international student to deliver China marketing stories in a way that Western audiences can understand.


Hank Zhang

Hank is an author and consultant for China Marketing Insights. Born and raised in Beijing, but having lived abroad much of his adult life, Hank brings a wealth of cross-cultural knowledge to the team.

His expertise is in the auto industry, and most recently he has been focusing on China’s booming EV industry.

Katherine Brown

Kat is a lifelong expat having grown up in Beijing and Bangkok. Having worked across different sectors of the Chinese market for several years, she is currently pursuing a masters in Chinese Studies in London. Focusing on luxury, fashion, lifestyle and cosmetics industries, Kat brings her multicultural perspective, writing and reporting experience when sharing marketing stories from China.

Alice Yu Yuebo

Alice Yu Yuebo is the Women in Marketing Global Award Winner and has worked as a digital/growth marketer at various multinational companies. Alice is also a public speaker, a gender-equality advocate, and an active community builder. She’s non-profit community exclusively for mothers who love arts already have 500 online members named Mama on Palette. Connect with her via LinkedIn.

Shine Hu

Shine Hu is a Market Research Analyst at ChemLinked. She graduated with two masters of English translating and interpreting from Macquarie University and Wuhan University. She previously worked at Xinhuanet, the official portal of Xinhua News Agency and reported China economy and business updates. At ChemLinked, her research focuses on imported consumer products in China. Areas of expertise: dairy, infant formula, cosmetics, health food, maternal and infant nutrition.

Li-Anne Krol

Li-Anne comes from an international background, growing up in the Netherlands but living in Beijing and Shanghai for some years. She had different jobs in marketing and communications, in sectors ranging from government to e-commerce. At this moment she works in education, bridging East and West. Her stories focus on Chinese society and culture, aiming to give more insight into what’s happening in China.

Eileen Li

Eileen graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Hotel Administration. Her passions are travel, fashion and entrepreneurship. She founded The ABC Abroad, a travel logistics company that helps American and Chinese travelers customize their itineraries. Eileen is also pursuing a degree in Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

Dr. Stephen C. Patton

Global Sourcing & Sustainable Supply Chain developer through process optimization & agile change management. After 20+ years in worldwide retail data driven strategic sourcing and SRM for specialty and mass market consumer industry, Dr. Patton currently oversees operations in the APAC region for Liverpool; the best-in-class Mexican omni-retail group. Author and designer of Retail Neuronomics and the Brand Image Model; a scientifically sustained new generation theory behind a neuro-social model for unconscious identity generation and consumer preference modeling.
